ABOUT US
The Mystic Krewe of Oracles is a group that participates in Asheville Mardi Gras. We are creatives, mystical enthusiasts and practitioners of folk magic. In the annual Asheville Mardi Gras Parade, we hand out magical throws while walking and strutting to traditional Louisiana music. The majority of our throws are custom oracle stickers created by Kittenchops Tarot and sustainable throws are created by Copperhead Studios.
Following the Parade, we attend the Asheville Mardi Gras Ball to celebrate merriment in life. We aim to spread kind hearted, enlightening messages and talisman of joy during Mardi Gras.
Throughout the year, the group gathers for events and to create magical parade throws like charm bags, decorated tea light candles, embellished matchbooks, etc.

Partners in life and the founders of Mystic Krewe of Oracles, Asheville, these two have long been lovers of Mardi Gras and Louisiana culture. Before moving to Asheville, they participated in various Krewes close to where they lived.
In Saint Louis they participated with the Banana Bike Brigade, founders of St Louis Mardi Gras. In Portland, Oregon, they were active members and volunteers in the Mystic Krewe of Nimbus. In New Orleans, they rolled with Krewe Du Kanaval.
By starting the Mystic Krewe of Oracles, they hope to spread light on Southern folk magic traditions and the joy of Mardi Gras in Asheville.
OUR PARADE THROWS
In the parade, we hand out 13 lucky hand decorated, recycled horseshoes. In folk magic, horseshoes hung above a door, stored in a desk or car are utilized for protection and prosperity. The throw was inspired by the highly sought after Muses shoe and Zulu coconut which are handed out in New Orleans.
